John Buckman Farm

The John B. Buckman Farm was located on Newtown-Richboro Road in Newtown Township, across from Neshaminy Farms (now called Tyler State Park). It was operated by John Carter Thompson Sr. and wife Audrey Knowles Stradling Thompson from 1928-1946. The children were Kathryn, John Jr, Harry, Rod, Bertha, Sarah. They were share-croppers there until they had saved enough money to buy Fountain Farm in Newtown PA. The house was the subject of the 1849 art work by famed primitive artist Edward Hicks called “Leedom Farm”. The farm house has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the US Department of Interior, and on the Pennsylvania Historic Inventory.
