Welcome to the Wilson-Thompson Family Association website. We are glad you found us. Our Association was founded in 1891 for the purpose of remembering and celebrating the many men and women of the Wilson and Thompson families who have contributed to creating the heritage of which we are most proud. Each year the members of the Association come together and reunite in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania for that purpose. The reunion has been held continuously each year since 1891.

Our families originated in Scotland, emigrated to Northern Ireland, and then came to the American Colony of Pennsylvania. Our families have contributed and continue to contribute to our great country. Starting with the emigration to the American Colonies in the early 1700's they have participated in the many struggles of our country, both internal and external, including military and civil and political struggles. This includes the many issues, challenges and hotly debated subjects which face and still face our nation. Each year, our families remember our country's military heroes by participating in the national Wreathes Across America day.

Our family is not wedded to any particular political, religious, or ethnic leaning. We extend a welcome to all family members and respect the right of all citizens to hold differing opinions. Our family is an American family. We cherish the Constitution. We are grateful to those family members who came before us, and on whose shoulders we proudly stand. It is important for our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and generations after them, to know how they and their ancestors got here, where they came from, and why they came. Knowing family history helps one develop an identity, assists in deepening connections to the past, and helps to grow an inner strength as we face obstacles of daily living. As one learns their family's history (successes, failures, strengths, weaknesses, accomplishments, hard work, etc.), a sense of control over one's life grows, and self-esteem flourishes; the latter being the single best predictor for emotional health and happiness.

This website is Version 2.0 of the Wilson-Thompson Family Association; it is a work in progress, started in 2024 by Jack Thompson, PhD (9th generation) and Jason W. Thompson (10th generation). Version 1.0 was created several years ago, and most ably managed by 8th generation Dr. Russell Miller. Mrs. Ellen Thompson Broxmeyer (8th generation), past President of the family, has done yeomen's tasks over the years, including creating a family Facebook genealogy page, building an extensive Tribal Pages database, and organizing all minutes from each of the family reunions since 1891! Our Family Association President, Ms. Susan Thompson, continues to lead and to represent us innumerable ways. We are so fortunate to have her as our President! We thank them all for getting us into 21st century technology! We dedicate this website to Ellen Broxmeyer, Susan Thompson, and Russell Miller for their work on our behalf. They are giants within our family.

If you believe you are a member of the family, please reach out to Jack via email at so that you may be included in future correspondence and activities.
